The More You Can Kill...

A thanks to Ron Whittaker for forwarding the large bag of fan mail to my Florida address.

Okay, so it was only a bit of e-mail; it's the thought that counts.

Anyway, I'm not the only one who thinks the prevailing "moral" views on sex and violence are pretty screwed up.

I was reminded of the whole thing again yesterday.

I took my weekly sojourn into town and happened into a video arcade crammed with youngsters. There are thousands throughout the country; youngsters and video arcades.

Ever been to one of those video arcades?

With the exception of a few driving skill games (hell-bent motorcycles and racing cars)...

...every game in the place was based on earning points by...

...killing as many animals/robots/people as possible.

The more you kill, the higher your score...

...and presumably the better person you are.

A scoreboard will quickly tell you if you were able to kill more in the same amount of time than those who played before you.

Kids spend hours with these games...

...perfecting their killing skills.

And, kiddies, just to fill in the time when you aren't in front of a video killing game, we provide you with toy guns, tanks and assorted weapons of war...

...for Christmas, your birthday, or whatever.

All in the name of "toys" and "play" in our "thou-shall-not-kill, love-your-neighbor as yourself" Judeo-Christian nation.

No religious, philosophical conflicts here.

Ever wonder if there was a relationship between all this and the fact that one of the leading causes of death among our youth is murder?

Of course, another leading cause of death among our youth is AIDS.

No games or toys in this area...

...not even much approved conversation.

Many who have tried to introduce a little lifesaving, safe-sex information into schools have been branded immoral...

...and stopped by some of our "moral" leaders.

"Just say no"; that's the solution.

If you believe that works, I can get you a real deal on some cheap Everglades land near here.

So, we are dooming many of our young people in two ways...

... by extolling the virtues of violence...

...and getting thousands of our kids killed each year.

And by discouraging an open and realistic discussion about sex and AIDS...

...and getting thousands of our kids killed each year.

How's that for morality?
